Kentucky property tax law establishes the assessment date of all property as January 1st of each year. All property assessment information is processed and maintained solely by the Property Valuation Office of each county and the Kentucky Department of Revenue. Further detailed information regarding assessments and property records in Graves County can be found at www.qpublic.net/ky/grave.
Unless otherwise advised, Graves County property taxes are payable to the Graves County Sheriff's Office beginning October 1 of the year for which they are assessed. The following collection dates apply:All delinquent tax bills for the preceding year not paid to the Sheriff by the close of business on April 15 will be transferred to the Graves County Clerk for further collection proceedings. After this date, additional penalties and interest will be assessed to these unpaid tax bills. No prior-year taxes can be collected by the Sheriff's Office after the April 15 transfer.
Address Changes and Duplicate Bill RequestsTax bill address information is maintained by the Graves County Property Valuation (PVA) Office and cannot be altered by the Graves County Sheriff. Call PVA 270-247-4501 with any address changes to your bill.
Due to time restraints in preparing the county tax roll, address changes made after June of the tax year will not be reflected on the tax bills printed for that year. Our office also recommends that anyone who has not received their expected tax bill by October 10th of the tax year to request a duplicate tax bill that can be obtained from the office or you can print it from the website.
